Welcome to Mr. Wie's OCHSA Pages

Music Technology is a modular course offered in four rotating units over a two year period. Students in grades 11 and 12 may take the course up to four semesters for credit. The unit topics change frequently, reflecting the immense changes that technology has brought into a music industry whose tradition extends back for centuries. Some of the more recent areas of study that the class has covered include:

  • Digital Media Distribution
  • Copyright Law, Fair Use, and the Internet
  • Basic Audio Editing (Waveform)
  • Electronic Music Composition (Sequencers)
  • Software Engraving Tools
  • Free Open Source Software (FOSS), Licensing
  • Overview of Media Hardware

A New Archive

The archive features photographs from my courses since 2003, a selection of superb student projects from Music Technology (including many original electronic music compositions), and also links to previous class material which may be useful to you as reference.
